Bay Tech Label's Environment Commitment
Bay Tech Label is owned by a couple with a deep commitment to the environment and the bottom line. We have tried to merge the goals of protecting the environment with investing in our future. The results include:
1) Our outside sales representative’s car is a 2007 Civic Hybrid which gets 51 MPG in the city and 49 MPG on the highway. When you drive 30,000 to 40,000 miles per year, that is real money.
2) The hot water in our Florida plant is heated by a solar unit and the Florida sunshine!
3) The floors in the office in Florida are cork. This is a clean soft, renewable material which is easy on the back and the eye.
4) When we repainted the offices, we used paints from Healthy Homes because their are no fumes and toxic smells.
5) We replaced all the lights in the buildings with new ballasts that give off 20% of the heat and bulbs that use 35% of the power! The payback was less than two years.
6) We replaced the windows with double pane, argon gas filled, hurricane grade windows. The result is much more comfortable rooms and lower power bills.
7) We added natural light in the press room for truer colors, free light and better morale. The windows are double pane, argon gas filled so the heat does not get through.
The bottom line is lower fuel bills, lower electric bills and a cleaner environment. Everybody wins.
